EMBRACING TREES
Who can live in this house?" Project Embracing Trees We raise flags, proclaim principles or maintain certain positions without warning how all these elements turn against us as invisible boomerangs. With this work I call to deconstruct decadent fundaments in order to construct new realities.
ACTION AT "ZONA IMAGINARIA" In this encounter, the collective action consisted on joining knitted cloths with different shades of green referring to ecology. During the task, ideas and reflections were shared, expanding our commitment and consciousness with ecology, as being agents of our reality. For that act I added some wool works from different colours and sizes, all with crosses designs. From all this objects, the Pampa cross was chosen, as an expression of rejection to our land crucifixion. Once the cloths were united in a 7 metres long strip; we played with it in a courtyard surrounded by 50 banana trees. I suggested then weaving together the plants, outlining a plant that had flower and fruit, emphasizing our desire to spread hope. Another day, we realized an artwork that consisted on embracing the neighbour trees. The group then guided me, choosing the tree specie that had to be covered up. We began with a tree that casted shadow over the House - Workshop of Lucrecia Urbano, plastic artist author of the "Who Can Live in this House?" project. Later, with the neighbour’s permission, we covered up different trees, hoisting this Embracement of the plants as symbol of our commitment with their protection. Finally, we removed this big "coat" from the trees and went to the artist’s residence called "Zona Imaginaria". There we separated the cloths used in the "Embracement of the Trees", and with them we made blankets to cover up the beds of the artists staying in that home.
