AMERICAS LATINAS LAS FATIGAS DEL QUERER. Milan, Italia Del 21 de mayo al 04 de octubre 2009 Exhibition curated by Philippe Daverio With Elena Agudio, Paz A. Guevara and Jean Blanchaert The contemporary art is one of the most interesting realities in the international artistic landscape. The difficult politic and economic situation helped in the developing of an art of extreme density. Mainly, it is a politic art, rebellious and revolutionary. A ideological and at the same time anti-ideological art, violent and strong. So strong, that still represents the living memory of colonization and evangelization ages. That violent were those times of bloody traditions and abuses over the pre-Colombian people. This is an art baroque by nature, raised by a complex mentality and by an osmosis culture of native and European traditions. Talk about Latin-American Contemporary Art, as a specific and coherent unity, seems to mean simplification and trivialization; Chile and Panama almost nothing have to do, or Brasil with Mexico, and an Argentinian could never been compared with a Bolivian person. It is difficult to talk about contemporary art, only in unnatural way that can be made. Latin America's exhibition, as the explicit name says, offers a multiple, complex and diverse perspective, much as the indefinable politic, economic, social and artistic Latin American situation is. There will be no last and ambiguous interpretation about it, but it exists initial poetic points to approach this world, so close and yet so far from us. This is an exhibition that leaves the hieroglyphic opened, and that only try to be a documentation of the most significant tendencies and artistic qualities in the continent. A multicolour portrait draw both by masters and young generations of artists, in a personal interpretation of Latin America designed by Philippe Daverio.
